Non-attachment

clinging, clutching, scrabbling through life

foot places miss, stumble, trip

relaxing, letting go, assures a secure place

breath comes easy, lightening the load

feel it, know it, live it within

life is expanded

  7. What a wonderful picture and such a truth-filled piece! I like the way you described the action – it is as if we were going through the process as we read the poem. This one (non-attachment) has been a real stumbling block for me, but it gets easier the more I practice. Letting go of expectation(s) is definitely the hard part! Thanks for the reminder, Gayle! 🙂

An interesting impression, I wonder, beyond that frontier of nothingness where the vastness of time is held in a vacuum yet to be explored, as in a life where one expects naught, perhaps there is a wealth of colourful moments just waiting to be discovered, just beyond the borderline and into the void.

Expecting nothing is feeling safe, protected and sheltered in deliberation; I think that pushing the envelope and welcoming the transformation from barren to an optimistic abundance of new life and anticipation fuels the passion for life, possibly not safe but certainly exciting.

I have enjoyed your poem my friend, and thank you for sharing your concept of emptiness.

  12. reading your poetry, i get the feeling that you are deeply inspired spiritually. and i love the fact that you share your spirit through these lovely words.
we cling to our creature comforts and we crave for more. it’s hard to feel not attached to things in this hectic world, it’s simply hard because we are so used to it. this poem is deeply spiritual, hope it inspires many.
