Feeling Bliss

Feeling           bliss            this            time               would          come

Bliss             arrived         when             I                       did                   see

This          when          awakened       shall                 I                       feel

Time           I                    shall                   be                    ever                  free

Would          did              I                    ever                  feel                   today

Come               see              feel               free                  today                always

Today,  Semaphore (Sam) shows us the clever Square Poem at FormForAll with an example by Lewis Carroll: http://dversepoets.com/2012/06/28/form-for-all-square-poems/

Mine reads both horizontally and in columns…well it’s supposed to make sense if you do it this way!  It hurt my brain but it was fun.

Insight is imparted
with a blinding flash.

My mind reels with
a new consciousness.

The world looks different
but what has transformed?

Only my discernment
has changed the view.

“The Hundredth Monkey”, by Ken Keyes, Jr.

In 1984, Ken Keyes, Jr. wrote a book called “The Hundredth Monkey”.  He did not copyright the book and has stated that it be shared freely so that the message that he believed in so strongly be distributed by whomever would care to share it with others.  I believe it is a timely and timeless message given the current upheavals throughout the world.

Ken Keyes used a legend based on a study of a group of macaques monkeys on the Japanese island of Koshima in 1952 as the opening in his book.  It is an impressive phenomenon, now known as the Hundredth Monkey effect, which some have come to believe is unfounded…at least in part.  Nevertheless, this is an inspirational story that leads into the passionate plea by Keyes for us to be aware of the danger to the life of our planet by the use of nuclear weapons.

It is a simply written book but with a request that we all take part in being mindful of how all our thoughts can affect each other and how powerful we can be in bringing about change for the better.

Here is the opening  story that he shares with us:

The Japanese monkey, Macaca fuscata, had been observed in the wild for a period of over 30 years.  In 1952, on the island of Koshima, scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoes dropped in the sand. The monkeys liked the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but they found the dirt unpleasant.

An 18-month-old female named Imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in a nearby stream.  She taught this trick to her mother.  Her playmates also learned this new way and they taught their mothers too.

This cultural innovation was gradually picked up by various monkeys before the eyes of the scientists.  Between 1952 and 1958 all the young monkeys learned to wash the sandy sweet potatoes to make them more palatable.  Only the adults who imitated their children learned this social improvement. Other adults kept eating the dirty sweet potatoes.

Then something startling took place.  In the autumn of 1958, a certain number of Koshima monkeys were washing sweet potatoes — the exact number is not known.  Let us suppose that when the sun rose one morning there were 99 monkeys on Koshima Island who had learned to wash their sweet potatoes.  Let’s further suppose that later that morning, the hundredth monkey learned to wash potatoes.

THEN IT HAPPENED!

By that evening almost everyone in the tribe was washing sweet potatoes before eating them.  The added energy of this hundredth monkey somehow created an ideological breakthrough!

But notice.

A most surprising thing observed by these scientists was that the habit of washing sweet potatoes then jumped over the sea.  Colonies of monkeys on other islands and the mainland troop of monkeys at Takasakiyama began washing their sweet potatoes.  Thus, when a certain critical number achieves an awareness, this new awareness may be communicated from mind to mind.

Although the exact number may vary, this Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon means that when only a limited number of people know of a new way, it may remain the conscious property of these people.  But there is a point at which if only one more person tunes-in to a new awareness, a field is strengthened so that this awareness is picked up by almost everyone!

Don’t underestimate the power that each of us holds as individuals.

Travels In My Mind (an Acrostic)

Taking the first thought out, I go with it as far as I’m able–winging amongst the ethers;
Reminding myself that there are no unauthorized areas that I’m unable to explore.
Asleep, I astral travel, unfettered by time or space.
Veering off into the causal planes, I visit the highest spiritual spheres where Masters of
Everything reside continuing their teachings and assisting all beings to merge in love.

Love or peace, that place within that holds the space of everlasting pure tranquility.
Senses expand and dissolve as I move beyond the confines of the ego.

It dwells inside, our Buddha nature, as the world spins around us in chaos and anarchy;
Nothing can disturb its stability and steadfast oneness and my mind rests in this truth.

Many paths we can journey.  Take your pick–mix them up–enjoy the ride.
You’re in command of your flow’s direction.

Moving at the speed of light, I project my way to higher realms and see what IS.
Immobile I sit in this space while my mind’s intention moves me away from my body.
Nothing inhibits me, nothing obscures my sight.   I merge with the sound current and
Delight in the truth, the light, the love, the peaceful perfection of the no-self.

Soul Stirring

Something touches,
Deeply stirs
Wisdom known,
Upon hearing.
Ancient souls,
Timeless beings
Sharing knowledge
Awareness follows.
Vibration rises,
Peace descends.

Window’s Freedom

I have the freedom to come and go,
out that window or through that door.

My third eye sees through each one,
portals of consciousness clear and bright.

This window stays open, my saving grace,
in-flowing awareness expands me higher.

When gazing through, I see the world
in all its glory–all illusions gone.

Vision surrounds in radiance,
aura protecting all within its space.

Focused breathing turns me inward,
prana permeates and increases bliss.

Seven chakras can be entered
pinpointing energy to make them spin.

Utilize all windows to support your growth,
a gift that’s bestowed upon us all.

LISTENING: An Acrostic

Julian Treasure on Ted.com on listening:

Laudable is he who can listen with full attention.

Intrinsic is the need to connect with one another;

Sit in considerate silence when each other speaks.

Take the time to pay heed to surrounding sounds,

Engaging in active concentration and awareness while

Nurturing yourself in practicing absorbed interest.

Indulge in the meditation of the resonance that IS,

Nourishing mindfulness that supports your being and

Garners conscious discernment along the way.

Humility

There once was an elderly man

Who had been poor his entire life

His belongings were meager

Only minimal necessities

He had never gone to school

No formal studies to read or write

He was illiterate and knew nothing of the world

But his eyes shone with a luminous light

A beatific smile appeared on his face–day and night

His countenance was saintliness personified

He recited stories that told of self-realization

And of saints and sages that he had encountered

While traveling the unseen planes through his mind’s eye

He spoke of having merged with the One

And his freedom from attachment to this earthly realm

Living with ease with what life brought–good or bad

Seeing both with equanimity

His calm and loving nature brought peace to others

He imparted awakening to those around him with a glance

His ego had weakened to almost nothing

Wherever he looked, he saw beauty

He had found the Supreme Truth within

He lived in a state of bliss

Nothing could shake his foundation

He lived out his days simply

With everything that he ever needed

And shared it all with others

I wondered if it wanted to share

I listened closely

I listened with attention

I heard that it’s perfectly comfortable

Universal Mother

kundalini_chakras_in_human_body_tr58

Brilliant, bright light pierces my third eye

Awakening my vision as never before

Awareness is streaming,

There’s no longer separation;

I’m in a place of nirvana

And the world is at peace.

A luminous pale, blue light appeared

Dancing radiantly and enveloping me wholly

Its energy warmth raises my vibration

As I feel my kundalini uncoil

And blasts me to heaven.

But heaven isn’t a place somewhere “out there”.

It’s within us here at the blink of an eye.

We can guide ourselves to know this truth,

That we are all One–there is no division.

Pursue this light that resides in us all–

It’s our Universal Mother illuminating the dark.

My 108th posting!

Awakening…

Asleep

Mind in dream state

Mindful concentration

Loving-kindness awakens now

Peaceful

This is a syllable cinquain.

Step by Step…

Step by step I journey through this life,

climbing countless and steep mountains

of one foot after the other.

Only to stumble and go tumbling down

to come to the place of where I now rest.

Go on, go on,

keep up, keep up!

No matter the deep, depressive darkness

that may envelop me,

or the brilliant light of peaceful knowing,

I am be-coming…

one

step

at

a

time,

at the perfect pace.
