At first you are taken by her beautiful exterior
How pleasant, how lovely; she must be superior
Her smile was photo glossy, it could flash in an instant
And her eyes sparkled brightly in the deepest cerulean
She was stylish and perky–but the longer you knew her you realized she was snarky
She was persnickety and argumentative and loved to gossip
And though nice to your face, she was a horror behind it
She complained and grumbled, lamented and groused
And added nothing but tension to every topic expounded
She was a lovely horror–it’s sad to admit it
But her insides were ugly, distorted and crooked.

/ April 6, 2011Everyone knows someone like this. It is strange they don’t figure it out. Oh, and “lovely horror” is great.

/ April 6, 2011snarky, persnickety, argumentative….like the adjectives but not the traits. They way outweigh outer beauty.

/ April 6, 2011Me too–don’t like those traits in others.
Victoria, I used that neat little “find an oxymoron” tool that napowrimo linked to–it worked very well and helped me find the start to my poem.

I should forward this to those I have especially grown to dislike more and more. 😉

/ April 7, 2011No, I haven’t met anyone new in my life but have known some real “stinkers” like this in the past. I distance myself from people like this. Thank you, Trisha.

/ April 8, 2011meeting such people is always negative, mostly they leave a lasting impression on mind. 😦
sooner we erase the bitter side of their memory the better.

This is richly powerful. 🙂
This reminds me of when there was no TV but the serials that used to come on the radio, how the words would just jump out at you.
I love history, perhaps too much. 🙂

I listened to some of those radio series even when we had TV. There was one scary one that I would listen to on occasion with some of my sisters–with the lights turned off to scare us even more! Your imagination could run wild! 🙂

Memories like what you mention are bliss. 🙂
