Life Force

We are vibration.
Our lives are a continuous
series of sparks that ignite
our life force and maintain
our beating hearts and breath.
Do we arrive with a finite number
of inhalations and exhalations
that we fulfill before we flicker
out into complete nothingness?

Join us at dVerse Poets as we celebrate our 6th year anniversary and our Quadrille prompt given by Grace.

  1. We are so immersed in mystery, aren’t we. Many of us went to the end of life for this poem. Indeed, our lives are but a brief flicker.

  9. I oftentimes wonder that myself. I do think we have a finite amount of time to figure out our personal destiny being guided along the way but I also think we can be ‘recalled’ if our life goes completely astray. Nice food for thought!

  12. Such an interesting concept: Do we have only a certain, pre-set number of breaths, of heartbeats? I don’t want to waste them.

  16. Sometimes the number of breaths can be extended, a second chance in the journey. We are indeed a vibration and each has a unique frequency.

  17. What a question you have posed here!!! It reminds me of that phrase, “Well, it was just her time.” I always feel anger at that phrase. Why? Why was it her time???
    Amazing take on the prompt.

Our minds & poems were in a similar vein–that life itself is fleeting, just a minute flicker in the vast continuum.

  23. My philosophy is that each moment affects our future. Be good to your future self. Some unknowns aren’t meant to be known, although numerology seems to play a part in destiny.
