Kali

Where did you reside before
you made your entrance here?
Was it in the darkness beyond the sun?
Did you dance within the Milky Way
and skip among the countless stars
that crowd the cosmos far and wide?
Did you slide down moonbeams
and have the glowing dust of
nebulae sparkle through your hair?
Did you sit at the feet of the Masters
who meditate in the ethers
to raise the vibration of all existence?

An astral body was your vehicle then, created
of light and prana that you transported
effortlessly between the myriad
planes of existence. Nothing hindered
your explorations and curiosity of
All That Is. You dwelt there in a state of
Connection to Every Thing with joy and delight.

O, Tiny Giant, now you have taken a human form
and chosen those who will guide, teach and protect
you as you journey on to continue your adventures.
What path will you seek to take?
Follow your light.
Follow your breath.
Ride the waves of nature and learn from the wind,
the water, trees and animals. They teach freedom.
You need nothing else but belief in yourself.

O, Divine Kali Devi, I hold you in
light and love as you expand
in consciousness
during your stay in this
Earthly realm.
May you be surrounded in love.
May you always feel safe.
May you live in peace.
May grace and acceptance be yours.

The Wheel of Becoming
continues its spin
throughout your
comings and goings.
 Its energy
propels you
ever forward
toward your
Knowingness and Ease.

  2. Gayle,What a beautiful poem to exit the group with. I hope you will save your poems about your family, esp. grandchildren in a book so when your are not with them, they will still have you. I wish I had more written material from my mom, grandparents, etc. I have a lot of questions I can’t ask.Dinner last night was wonderful, as always. Maybe we could look for a different cuisine for our next outing. There is an East Indian restaurant in Vero that is supposed to be good if a little pricey. I’m sure we could find something affordable if that might interest you.Love you,Barbara

    • Thank you so very much, Barbara. Perhaps that’s the least I could do…put all my writings into an inexpensive book so my family can at least have it if they wish. Dinner was nice and I’m all for trying new places. I actually believe I’ve eaten at that Indian restaurant in Vero…I did like it. And there’s always Aromas in Melbourne, the Lebanese place that we visited before. I also know of a French crepe place (I think on New Haven) in Melbourne that’s good too. Love you too, and appreciate your support! xo

Gayle–you had me at “AllThatIs”–your metaphysics resonates strongly with me. When it comes to spirituality, there are myriads of perceptions–and there is room for all (are you listening DJT?) With 7 grandchildren myself, I relate as well to your shift of focus. My wife, now retired is always called first for babysitting.

    • No, he’s not listening! My philosophical and metaphysical musings have taken me far from mainstream thinking and I agree, there are myriad paths of perceptions that must be allowed for exploration and expansion. I count my blessings that I’m in the position to be such a close part of my grandchildren’s lives. Seven must really keep you two grandparents hopping!

Fell in love with this poem, from the very first stanza, Gayle, reversing the role of the child asking the adult, where did I come from. May she be curious and filled with wisdom and knowledge, throughout her life.

  31. Hi! I read that you are exiting for family reasons and think your grand kids are so lovely in the photo you posted at dVerse and will love having you spoil them and teach them about the beauty of life, so evident in your lovely verse here –
“Ride the waves of nature and learn from the wind,
the water, trees and animals. They teach freedom.
You need nothing else but belief in yourself.”
I love this so much, never believing enough in myself just always hoping I get it right. I take this wise counsel to heart. thank you! -Gina-

    • Well, mostly the reason is my stagnant enthusiasm. I’ve just been uninspired lately and it’s true my attention is on my grandchildren and will be more when I start babysitting them three days a week but it’s really because my muse has taken leave. I haven’t given up yet though and think I have more things to share…someday. Thanks for your generous compliment for my poem, I really appreciate it, Gina.

    • Many thanks for your kind compliment, Paul. Kali is a kick-ass goddess but she also has a loving mother side to her. I hope our Kali grows up to have a healthy balance of the two. I hope I will be able to share this poem with her personally when she’s able to understand.

One can get the leads from observing nature, foliage and fauna. However it takes lots of skills to be able to do so successfully

  37. What a beautiful celebration, Gayle. I was immersed in the journey from existential existence to human form. Boundless beauty, these tiny humans are. I love the ending, how you encourage her to follow her light and breath, and the last many lines feeling like a prayer straight from your heart to hers. Lovely!
