A New Revolution

SCCRRRAAAATCH
the past revolutions!
Our rhythm heralds
a different way.
Perhaps we won’t
be so peaceful!
We’ll run amok
and churn up
the muck!
Change will
come, Oh Yes!
Starting with
YOU THERE, all
cushy ensconced
in your lifelong
tenure of perks!
Public “servants”?
MY ASS!
Your time has come
and you are gone!
The future belongs
to us all now, not
just a select few.
We RAGE at paths
lined in blood!
We are damning the
torpedoes that lay
waste to countless
innocent lives!
Link arms and
put up a united
front to end this
insanity that is
rooted in politics.
It’s a ruse DON’T YOU SEE?
We’re being royally
BAMBOOZLED!
Nothing is untouched
by the ravages of this
cesspool of corruption.
We’re pulling the plug
and letting the sewage
be absorbed into the
void that it deserves.
Slate clean lies our future.
Lay down your pens
and put aside your
intellect and FEEL
GODDAMIT!!!!
If we lose our hearts
we lose everything.

Victoria is our host at dVerse Open Link Night but couldn’t be with us today because of a family emergency.  Our hearts go out to her.

  1. A powerful poem and so true! I can hear a public reading with fireworks:
    Lay down your pens
    and put aside your
    intellect and FEEL
    GODDAMIT!!!!
    If we lose our hearts
    we lose everything.
    -Well done! *cheers!*

  2. YES, YES, YES! This rocks the future it does. Angry and determined to take back that which was stolen.

  3. That’s pretty great right there.

And it got me to listen T Rex’s Children of the Revolution, and that’s good too.

  4. Oooh, you are quite a raging poet here, aren’t you? Very different to your usual style – a bit of performance poetry perhaps?

    • Yes, sometimes I’ve been known to rage, Marina…no, not my usual style. This was inspired by Bjorn’s prompt this week on futurism which I didn’t quite pull off with all the syntax going on so it became my OLN entry instead. The frustration with politics is real with me but I do my best not to dwell on the idiocy of which I have little chance of changing.

Grrr. I do NOT like that call to action at the end. I’m stomping my feet and throwing a tantrum in response. 😉

    Still, you’re right, of course.

  6. This is so very much inspired by the rage that could have been Majakovich … we should be angry we should have it cleansed…

    • Well, this was my syntax filled poem I was trying to write for your futurism prompt, Bjorn. I think the time for passivity is over but then an angry America isn’t such a good idea either…

  7. Wow, the passion and rage, I commend you ~ If only we can take back our future into our own hands ~ Specially like this part:

    If we lose our hearts
    we lose everything.

Idealism mixed with rage, well put–and as true as today, hoping for a better tomorrow. I could say that pipe dreams are made of such ideals, but then poets owe it to themselves & their readers to speak from the heart

  9. Awesome!! You have put fire in this one and quite frankly have put a voice to so many that don’t say something (myself included) because they feel it is useless and that their voice won’t be heard. I detest politics and this year all the more. Love this write. 🙂

  12. What a great rant, Gayle! And I, too, was reminded of T Rex and ‘Children of the Revolution’. It also took me back to the seventies when I was constantly listening to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Yes, let’s ‘ run amok / and churn up / the muck!’ I love the force of the CAPITAL LETTERS and the imperatives.

    • Thank you! I constantly listened to C,S,N&Y too, Kim…one of my all time favorite bands. I don’t do rants that often but somehow I was inspired by Bjorn’s futurism prompt this week.

  18. First lines of your piece told me that this is what a Futuristic (or is it Futurism?) is done. The angst, the anger (even fear) are sentiments befitting politics.
