There’s a Silver Lining Here Somewhere

I feel cut loose
when things get
uncomfortable or
maybe I get too
close. My happy
mood is now
shadowed
by wondering
(w)here
I stand. Cryptic
messages cloud
the joy I once felt.

I used to turn the
blame to myself
so readily…no more.

  2. I feel so much confusion, uncertainty in this–the ups and downs of relationships, of life. Like how you used cloud.

  3. I love the uncertainty… like how we would navigate through clouds… Yes clouds can sometimes block the view.

  4. I think sometimes when we feel uncertain we have to hide behind the cloud for a bit in order to gather our thoughts, It may feel as if the cloud is overshadowing us but I think we need the shadow to show us the light.

  6. I love this. I’m not usually a fan of creative punctuation in poetry, but in this case “(w)here” works because it has a purpose and a meaning.

  7. The ins and outs and changing emotions in a relationship—I like how cloud is used in terms of our weathering messages sent/thrown at us. I especially like the ending determination – the will to be and cherish self.

Love thy self, or others will not truly feel its validity. Clever & sad & honest, this piece makes me grimace, then smile in agreement.

  10. Ouch. Feelin that in my bones.Wondering where you stand seems a better place to be than turning blame inward. Stand your ground. It’s yours.

  12. The messages do seem “cryptic” in such cloudy circumstances. I wish whatever clouds my joy left me at least with better understanding.

  21. I think we sometimes blame ourselves when in reality we are a victim of a situation or the hands of others.
