tears sigh as they swell and spill
down my cheeks and a tuneless
melody tinged with gray becomes
a vapor around my head
the fog intensifies the dirge
and the heavy notes hang
in mid-air, too grief stricken
to float any higher
in an instant the plot changes
and with the relief of tears
my mood slowly creates
hues no longer subdued
color ricochets around the
room in a dance of joy,
happiness is pink and
sounds like tinkling bells
calm now, my concentration
on the movie I’m watching,
colors continue to come
forth; indigo hums my peace
and as the story closes
on a happier note so do
the different visual shades;
a quiet om circulates

/ December 3, 2015I like how the colour changes and dances after “hues no longer subdued”. The fourth stanza made me visualise the dance of colours and bells, and made me smile.

/ December 3, 2015I can relate to that mood in the early part of the poem and the sensory images you chose work so well. And a wise move to seek out colors to heal the darkness of the moment.

/ December 3, 2015Terrific use of the form, as the piece shifts like a classical movement, like a Pollock canvas, like a minstrel’s meditation. Like Mary, I like the lines /colors continue to come/forth–indigo hums my peace/. Om, indeed.

/ December 5, 2015Year ago, I lived in a commune of homeopathatic, chiropractic, Bach flower remedies – practitioners along with aromatherapy and iridology – things that were considered “quack” back then but mainstream now. I seem to remember sessions on colors.

/ December 5, 2015I lived in a commune years ago too and we practiced all of the above plus acupuncture, yoga and meditation. Oh, and we were all vegetarians! This was the early 70s and like you said, none of that stuff was mainstream. Took the world a while to catch up with us didn’t it, Toni?! :~)

/ December 6, 2015Yes it did. We also did accu-pressure and puncture and meditation, raised our food and obtained milk and other dairy products from our goats and a couple of cows. A few rescued pigs provided amusement. It’s odd to think that we used to be weirdos and quacks and now we are stylish and recognized and licensed!
