Komachi balloon
blue umbrellas clutch secrets
hummingbird hovers

Komachi balloon
puffs of blue delight expand
pealing bells open

Blue umbrellas clutch secrets
hushed whispers quiet
autumn’s frost brings sleep

Hummingbird hovers
Komachi nectar sustains
red poppy beckons

I was inspired to try a new poetry form called Troiku that Viv had written this past week.  It was invented by Chèvrefeuille, a Dutch  haiku poet and leader of the Carpe Diem Haiku Kai group, aka Kristjaan Panneman.  I didn’t quite use the advised format but will work on that.  Here is a link to his very interesting site and where he explains his new form:  http://chevrefeuillescarpediem.blogspot.com/p/troiku-new-form-of-haiku.html

Abhra is our host today over at dVerse Poets for Open Link Night.  Link up any poem of your choosing:  http://dversepoets.com/2015/11/12/openlinknight-160/#comment-103056

Trioku could be the new haibun, or not. On twitter for a time I wrote Buttku, 5 lines I created, 10 words each, no syllable count. Many had fun with it. We need to add levity to our brevity sometimes.

    • Buttku…just love it. My husband calls what I write Little Shit-ku, half in jest. but there is also Twaiku where peopleses tweet ku. Blasphemy, she mutters. You should try senryu then. levity with brevity for sure.

  3. I like the form….and you really worked it well. It bears a slight resemblance to the trimeric form with the repetition of the three lines. I had never heard of Komachi Balloon Flowers, but they are beautiful.

  12. Similar to the trimeric form. When Mary gave us that prompt, I was stymied but then….wrote a tanka and there ya go. So many wonderful poetic forms out and about. This poem made me feel sunny and light. All of our hummingbirds are probably down with you.

  14. Very interesting form, regardless of whether you stuck closely to it or not. The variations are like Bach. And I had not seen these gorgeous flowers before, they are balloony, they are blue, they have everything they need to become my favourite flowers! Thank you for that.

  18. Very beautiful, an intriguing form. I tried out a haiku this morning, though not the proper syllabic count, as am intrigued by how much MORE these short forms say than our longer poems.
