Who would have thought
with one child’s birth
such transformation
within my heart.

No hesitation
on my part
to uproot my life
and join your side.

Witnessing your
change and growth
has brought great
expansion of my own.

A guru in an infant’s
form has shone
the light where
it had dimmed.

You’ve bowed to me
and touched my feet.
With common ground
we’ve made a link.

I pay attention
to what you teach,
no matter if
you’re only three.

Now delight
is often near,
your joyous smile
brings sweet cheer.

These last few years
I won’t forget,
your entrance here
made my top-ten list.

Toni, aka Kanzen Sakura, asks us to offer something up along the lines of change over at dVerse Poets:  http://dversepoets.com/2015/09/15/poetics-ch-ch-changes/

  3. Such a doll, and I can so much understand how a child can teach you so much just by asking.. You never learn from answers but from questions.

  6. Love your take on the idea of change, as there is nothing that makes change more relevant than the birth of and the growth of a child…. as they change, you are aware of your own changes. And their changes, as they grow, are definitely delightful. Your little one definitely is a beauty.

  13. This is so sweet! Children can teach us so much. I know I learned a lot from my son when he was young (actually, I still do). It is a wise woman who pays attention to the teaching of a three-year-old. Peace, Linda

  14. A beautiful tribute to a beautiful little girl. I love the way her soft curls frame her face. Grandchildren can be a blessing. 🙂

    • She is a wonderful treasure, Renee. Her hair has become a mystery. She had very fine, mostly straight hair until just a few short months ago and it, seemingly overnight, started curling. New growth was curling from the top of her head and took over her other hair. Very strange. I had never seen that happen before…didn’t with my children. But it makes her look even more angelic than she already is. 🙂 xo
