Indoors I Stayed

Indoors I stayed today
and napped curled like the cat.
Sky grayed, wind blustered,
and cooled temperature,
made me curl even tighter and
put socks on before.
Granddaughter’s Dad
sent me a video of
baby girl sliding down
a slide, giggling while
going up and coming down.
Gladdened my heart.
Still a little peaked from
a mild bug…was content to
read and write sitting in my
well worn bedroom chair.
Cleaned the kitchen before dinner,
had left it cluttered from lunch.
Happily alone for my meal,
simple, light with some tea.

  2. ah despite the light bug, this sounds peaceful… it’s nice to snuggle up indoors, drinking tea and reading when it’s cold outside… and i can imagine how that vid of your grandchild made you smile

I so know the feeling: just that little bit off colour. Amazing you managed to do some house cleaning in spite of feeling not quite right. Thank you for the snapshot of your day.

  13. Sounds like a day well-spent. Spending cool gray days indoors snuggled in blankets, warmed by tea and the giggles of loved ones. These are my favorites, and this poem captures these moments perfectly.

  14. Gayle, isn’t it great when you receive something via mail or email that brightens your day? Makes the cold more bearable. Love this snapshot of your life! Thanks, hon. Amy

    • Yes, it was so sweet to hear her laughter…nothing better to restore body and soul. Hate to say it, Amy, but it’s not cold here. We’re having very mild, warmish temperatures…will hit 80 this week. A tiny dip down into the 50s at night for a couple of nights but 70s during most the coming days. Don’t hate me…
