Avalanche cleanses; a retreat on practicing letting go
Longer days, wildlife emerges; walking meditation begins

/ August 5, 2013Hey Brian…thanks for checking in with me…very kind of you. Hope all is well with you and your family. I’m having a mellow, laid-back summer and you’re probably getting ready to get back into the classroom by now. Just the past week or so I’ve been nosing around my blog…am I perhaps wanting to get back into the game…maybe so. I know I will write again…when I feel like it. Smiles…

/ April 25, 2013It’s wonderful that you present new scenes in each line, and then introduce something new and different at the outset – the mountain, an avalanche, wildlife – to demarcate the natural from the poet’s eye.

/ April 27, 2013Ouch, bad news of avalanches here killing folks recently — so “avalanche cleanses” sounds cruel. Nature is cruel, but so are people, so perhaps personification is appropriate but I do wish Nature would be shown for her horrible side too by poets. That said — this was a good use of form for an idealized world. Using this imagery, though, can be a helpful method to still a mind — except when it is your loved one buried in the snow.
Sorry, I just finished a very sad Japanese film: Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai. It has put me in a melancholic state.

/ April 28, 2013You’re entitled to your melancholic mood, Sabio. Nature does have a horrible side and death is sometimes a part of that. Sorry about the loss of lives in an avalanche but I wasn’t thinking in terms of human lives being lost when I wrote this. More, a cleansing of fallen limbs, debris, etc. on the surface of the mountain and that being a way for renewal.
And I think it would be very difficult for me to use any of the techniques that I have learned for calming myself when a loved one has been tragically killed.

/ April 28, 2013Yes, I realized you weren’t writing about loss — ’twas my mind at the moment, of course. I just did another post trying to capture that feeling, — and on the idea of catching feelings at all — if you are interested.
