Spirit

essence within
my nature’s core
the fundamental “me”
that is without sin

untouched and pure
clean and clear
may this clarity
in life emerge

this eternally-lit heart
rests in a sacred space
sitting in stillness
no strife can impart

unfathomable spirit
reveal thy beauty
beyond impermanence
and this world’s deficit

translucent light shines
beyond maya’s storm
no limited becoming
binds the soul’s divine

    • A great prompt, Victoria. The interpretation of spirit can go in so many different directions…which makes it very interesting. It was my pleasure to join with you. xoxo

  4. I agree with Victoria, the mandala is beautiful! As for the poem, you have outdone yourself with this one, Gayle. 🙂 THIS should be the definition of “spirit”…you have captured all that is important about it in a few, eloquent words. The last stanza is my favorite, too, but really, it’s all wonderful!

  7. Recently I sat in a hogan with a crystal in front of me as healing songs and chants were sung. This poem reminds me of that powerful moment as the medicine man reached far into the past to discover
    essence within
    my nature’s core…
This poem meant a lot to me.

    • I speak of the same essence that the medicine man speaks of…there are so many paths to reveal that sacred place aren’t there.

I’m very honored that this poem meant a lot to you, Thomas…thank you very much for sharing that with me.

  9. Have you seen a mandala constructed then “deconstructed?” Such a lesson in impermanence… Beautiful.
