Nightmare Disorder

Image by Alaina Abplanalp Photography via Flickr

Nightmares awoke me;
I tossed and turned.
My night was restless,
bringing me dread.

I stayed up  way too late
watching a story of terror
and knew that it may
backfire, bringing
dreams of despair.

The movie was a good
one and had my full
attention, but the graphic
nature of bloodlust
nearly did me in.

Muttering to myself
when all was said and
done– I hope I don’t
have a nightmare–they
leave me feeling wrung.

Now I hope I will recall, this
night of great unrest and never
again view a film that
brings me such distress.

There is nothing quite like a bit of…
wait for it, a bit of night time horror
to get the blood pumping 🙂

I like this one Gayle 🙂

    • Well of course you would feel this way. 😉 For some reason, many times what I experience during my waking hours seems to make its way into my sleep. Frustration, fear, anger, movie bloodshed… But I’ve also awakened giggling…so it’s not all bad! 🙂

  2. Well said, Gayle. I used to be a huge fan of horror movies, but as I get older, I think I have changed…it’s like now I don’t want to put some of those images in my head, so I consciously choose to avoid them. I still like a good scare, but some of today’s movies just have too much gratuitous and unnecessary gore/violence in them for my tastes. Interesting choice of image…kind of reminds me of an x-ray.

    • I feel the same way…I don’t want to put those images into my head either. There’s some dark movies being made these days…that says something about our society…why are we drawn to such negativity?

Loved your political expounding today too!
