Couplets:
O mind, I beseech thee, be at rest
Your monkeying about, proves a test
Alone we travel upon this earth
Departing in death, the same as in birth
Crystalline Form:
Wilted Flowers
Wind scatters wilted flowers
Decades of love lies dormant on the grave
Night Rain
Tonight the rain drums out a tune
Tree frog joins in with rhythm’s measure
Moon Shadow
Moon casts blend of shadow and light
Dimness envelops slinking, black cat
Angelic Clouds
Restless spring wind, gusts and lulls
Dandelions lift in angelic clouds
Chun Lian Form:
Snow melt trickles down mountain
Spring crops flourish in abundance
Emerging warmth brings cheer

/ December 30, 2011WOW is right. That’s all I could think after my first read through! You did it all and superbly! I am humbled. Kudos on taking on all three and actually surpassing the model for Chun-lian! It’s truly brilliant in its subleties. Then the exquisite pivots in the Crystallines and the dualities of the couplets. I can’t stop gushing. Fabulous! Gay

/ December 30, 2011Very nice runthrough of all the various aspects of the couplet–and neat poems in themselves as well. My favorites would have to be the second couplet and the first crystalline. Happy New Year to you.

/ January 2, 2012These are ALL so well wrought that it is hard to pick a favorite! I’ve never tried the crystalline or Chun Lian forms but you seem to have taken the ball and run with it. Did it take you very long to write these? They are fantastic!

/ January 2, 2012I had never heard of or tried those forms either and really enjoyed them. No, it didn’t take me very long…just had to make sure the right amount of syllables were in there for the Crystalline…similar to haiku.
I’m so pleased that you like them, Corina…thanks.
