So often life is like this,
our hands are tied;
we see an escape but
it lies just beyond our reach.

How have we put ourselves
in this space of immobility?
What has brought us here–what
choices did we make to serve
up what is staring us down?

If we always had it easy…if life
drifted along with no ripples,
no bumps or dips–would we still
move, grow and learn?  Would we
still awaken to the truth–that all
of this is but an illusion?

If we allow what is with no resistance,
we’ll find that we are eternally unfettered.

  1. Thanks for making me think, Gayle. You make it sound so easy. 🙂

  2. I am in this current mode. It’s all “how did I get here.” and i thought I wanted to be here, now here I am and then now what, and why so difficult to move on. “Stuck” indeed. The good news is probably realising or feeling this way, then perhaps that makes one move. Thanks for your insightful poem.

    • I can relate. I made the choices that put me where I am too but find myself wanting to “move” and am feeling stuck. I suppose that’s why this popped into my head. 🙂 Thanks, Ravenblack.

Missed this over at Magpie Tales, sorry about that.
Questions, questions, questions. Maybe that Hadron Collider will provide us with some answers in the not too distant future.
    Thought provoking piece.

    • Well, I posted late, Tino…no problem. I’m not sure that the Hadron Collider will have the answers to the questions that I’m asking though. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

  4. no i dont think we would…it is in our adversity that we often grow the most honestly…

  5. Without those ups and downs we wouldnt grow… for without those Darker sadder moments how would we know when we were Happy..
Loved this poem.. so very True..

    Wise words.

  7. So true, Gayle. If we were always happy, we would forget what it felt like. Sadness reminds us of what happiness feels like. We need them both.

  8. I guess what the Borg say on Star Trek is true, “Resistance is Futile” Smiles…

  9. I like the question format of this. I wrote one in a similiar fashion this week too.

I think your message in this poem is quite right, but it’s much easier said than done. K.

    • I think I write these messages more as an affirmation to myself. I clearly know the difficulty of achieving the peaceful states that I refer too!
