As If Were Lost…

As if were lost, I searched for me,
Many years so long have come to pass.
-Outside myself I thought would be,
As if were lost, I searched for me.
But soon I found ‘twas not decreed,
Light within soon shown at last.
As if were lost, I searched for me,
Many years so long have come to pass!

From Poets.org http://www.poets.org:  The triolet

The triolet is a short poem of eight lines with only two rhymes used throughout. The requirements of this fixed form are straightforward: the first line is repeated in the fourth and seventh lines; the second line is repeated in the final line; and only the first two end-words are used to complete the tight rhyme scheme. Thus, the poet writes only five original lines, giving the triolet a deceptively simple appearance: ABaAabAB, where capital letters indicate repeated lines.

  1. Ah yes, the search never ends! Beautiful poem. The triolet form works very well to convey the meaning.

    In reply to your question…

Yes I turned mine off Gayle and also I have stopped following everyone, of course I still follow some of my friends but only about 20% I would say and my reasons are because wordPress has a ridiculous fetish for sending multiple e mails on just about everything that we do here and with all my other writing work I simply do not have the time to go through them all, mind you I sometimes don’t even get reminders on some postings, which is annoying on the Spaces that I do follow 🙂

I think that it is hit and miss sometimes but at least by cutting down on the one’s to follow and just tweaking a few other settings I have managed to reduce the e mails by around 70% so a good outcome that 🙂 Thank you for asking me about this though Gayle and I might try re-adding that option so that you and others can return when I reply 🙂 However nine out of ten times I will always add a reply here my great friend 🙂 Thank you for reading my offerings Gayle and for the welcomed feedback also 🙂

    • I understand why you didn’t want to be bothered by all the emails–I’m overwhelmed myself sometimes. Another friend that I have, had her comments “turned off” but she couldn’t figure how to get them turned on!

Thanks for letting me know that it wasn’t something that was unintended. I totally support your decision. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 🙂 xo

I have comments turned off on mine and Jen’s photographs that I have in my extra pages, I used to have it open for comments but I figured that looking at the photographs is one thing, and as for comments on them, well I don’t really expect to have someone make a comment on my ugly mug 🙂 However on Jen’s pictures, well she is gorgeous, I just thought that I would offer that or I could quite easily be digging myself out of a very large hole 🙂 😉 lol

I hope you are enjoying your evening Gayle 🙂

        • What?–your mug isn’t ugly, Androgoth! Your mug is quite charming…really it is.

I’ve visited your photo albums but made no comments on anyone’s mug! 😉 lol xo

  7. Unique form of verse that you executed well. I love the subject, being that my name means “lost” and I feel “found.” 🙂

  8. I’ve never been able to write like that, each of my poems I just write to rhyme… Maybe I should give it a try.. It works very well and loved it..

    • And I usually don’t rhyme many of my poems unless the form requires it, as this one did. So pleased that you liked this–thanks so much.
