Shame

Emotions bubble, escape and spill,
Tears stream, dropping from the edge,
Waves of shame propel them both.
No longer concealed,
Comes out from hiding,
Truth is shared;
It’s not so bad.

  1. Never is as bad as we think…probably because our imaginations are bigger than reality…

  2. It’s never as bad as our imaginations lead us to believe. Beautiufully done, Gayle, and a good point.

They say that a trouble shared
is a trouble halved, I guess it is
    a truism…

Be very well my wickedly fine friend 🙂

Yes I think that if someone is a true friend,
that sharing something of a delicate nature
helps a great deal Gayle, and thank you for
your sweet thoughts about my visits 🙂

Have a truly delightful start to your week 🙂

  4. Somehow, once we make peace with whatever is bothering us, there is a diminishing effect that takes place. It isn’t so bad or important then.
    Well done ..

  5. “It’s not so bad.”

That’s the most profound line in the poem after all the angst of the other lines. You describe the human drama we so often are caught in and then you abruptly pull us out–just like a Buddhist would–and remind us that “It’s not so bad.” Not the emotions and not the situation.

    • I agree. We wrap ourselves in layers of angst, growing our problems bigger and bigger–which I had a “bout” of this week–and sharing diminished it greatly and there was much relief. It works!

The foundation of Buddhism is a profound comfort to me.

  7. No, I don’t think so either. But many people are afraid to show their vulnerabilities aren’t they. That’s the shame.
