Life in a Bubble

Living in a bubble
life is carefree;
no thought
needed for others;
it’s only about me.

Floating along
drifting, selfish
in my ways,
life is mine
for using
as only I see.

People, hungry,
and miserable,
no place to live,
these things
don’t concern
me, I’m all
that there is.

Something I do
bothers you?
Too bad for you,
I don’t give a damn.

I annoy, perturb
taunt and agitate,
(but you’re not thinking of me!)
Life in my bubble is perfectly great.

You are on a roll my friend, one minute your thoughts are without direction and then all of these great postings in an instance. This one is definitely a self centred piece, and so your work has been a success, I like it Gayle, very abrupt and straight to the point 🙂 How wicked…

Do enjoy the rest of your evening now
and be good too, if you can I mean? 🙂 lol

    • That seems to be the way I roll–out with a few and then nothing! You are too kind and very generous with your lovely comments for me–thank you.

      Yes, it’s very self-centered and mean–not really like me–wicked!

      Enjoy your evening…

  4. There are not just some like this, but many. Our world is being transformed into an it’s-all-about-me world. Great write!
This one kind of goes hand-in-hand with yours: http://charleslmashburn.wordpress.com/2011/09/30/bubbles-and-lies/

  5. Those bubbles of theirs are quite solid, like concrete because it takes a lot than just small misfortunes to make them realize their own selfish attitudes. These kind of people frustrates everyone.

    • That seems to be true–solid as concrete–they’re impervious to other’s feelings. Very hard to be around these types.

  7. Your “bubble”, my “world.” We all have a name for that “safe and self” place where we go. You described it perfectly (as usual). 😉

  9. very sad way of living a life, but there are people who live a life like that and quite happily.

i tried to text soulbro today but it did not worked, i have very deep respect for my service provider so the fault may be theirs or my insertion of number. his blog is not accepting comments so…

    • Yes, some do seem happy with themselves like this. Much to our dismay.

Sorry you weren’t able to reach him, Trisha. I wonder why his blog is not accepting messages. I’ve had that happen to me with some blogs that I usually can access and there’s a way to send the blogger a message to let them know that you’ve been blocked. Is that possible for you–does a message come up saying this blog is private?

I’m going to go try myself and see what happens.

  10. So many ways of looking at bubbles. However, I can’t believe you–you aren’t that person in the bubble, Gayle. No way.

  12. Selfishness does exist and there are those who seem to enjoy wearing it. BUT … not you my dear friend – you are too kind and gentle for that- except in your writing – which is okay. ~~~~ : – )

A neat take on the prompt. I’m sure that’s not you at all in the poem, which makes it an even better write. Sadly there are people like that out there (including many bankers and politicians!).

    • Thanks a lot–no, not me. Just thinking of those self-centered types who grate on all of our nerves! Oh yes, many politicians and big-shot corporate mongers for sure! 😦 What a drag…

  17. I have gone in and out of that bubble throughout my life…it is afer all what the status quo wants…only my pen can pop that cocoon and I wish more could burst their bubbles so we could achieve something of significance. I look forward to reading more of your poems and will be back.
