Sweeping Love

Picturing you in my mind’s eye, I see your two-year-old self.

With eyes bright and curious–your pure, innocent soul

trusting in me to keep you safe, hold you from harm

and then let you go to explore and grow.

The love that comes sweeping through me is joyous–

my heart quivers with the memories of your precious,

dearly precious being.

This feeling throws open my heart and reminds me of a long ago love

that is so much still, presently alive.

  1. That’s one thing a father gets to miss. That closeness that mother and daughter shares.

  2. The precious innocense of an infants love …. that is what I felt as I read this, Gayle. So beautiful and so tender.

    • Thinking of my little girls just melts my heart–I so loved those tiny girls.

Still do of course. Thanks, Izzy.

Get the kleenex…but for a nice cry
Gayle: I am at work and loved this. It put some energy into my soul…lol
    Wonderful…are you dreaming of someone?

    • Just thinking of my daughters when they were that age. It was such a sweet time–I loved that time of my life.

  4. What a beautiful bonding between mother and her child (?)

  5. The fun part about this beautiful experience is that you will probably get to enjoy it again. Every moment with my granddaughters expands the story and the joy. Beautiful poem, Bodhirose!

    • You are so right, Leslie. I have “borrowed” my sister’s grandson and have enjoyed loving him so much. I can’t wait to be a grandmother! Thanks for enjoying, Leslie. 🙂

    that’s nice!
My mother always tells me and more so others, stories how I was when little, she is quite happy when she tells those embarrassing moments, I love that she smiles, though not fond of the moments.

    • I always try hard not to embarrass my children! I know how that feels… I like for them to remember the good memories of their growing up years.

  7. Sentimental, pure and beautiful! Brings back memories. Sigh… 😉
