Brown or white we won’t demean
Orientation will all be seen
Your beliefs different than mine
That’s okay we’ll be just fine
Call to prayer five times a day
Or none at all, we still can play
The dress you wear is not my same
Makes no difference, there is no blame
Language, culture, a variety
Makes for interesting diversity
Sexual preference, I don’t care
Love of all is my sacred prayer
Discrimination against our own
Is a hateful trait to be de-throned
Release all intolerable distinctions
Of racial, gender, religious institutions
Open mind, open heart
May compassion be our mark
My entry for Monday Poetry Potluck: Inspired by a song. I’m inspired by Lady Gaga’s song “Born This Way”.

/ June 7, 2011Your message is wonderful. We are of the same race: the human race. We all bleed red. We should focus on our similarities rather than dwelling on petty issues that dehumanise and divide us. Well done!

I love her song “Born that Way” and her message to the world. We need to have more respect for all cultures, religions and those who do things or look differently than we do. She is a perfect example of ridicule and, yet, she is out there trying to help youth and the disenfranchised feel better about themsleves.
Nice to see it here, Gayle.

/ June 8, 2011Very strong and important message, in today’s world I feel we are becoming increasingly divided on the basis of such superficial things. I think people should wake up and realize that these things don’t matter, they don’t make anyone good or bad. People are entitled to their views, their tastes, their likes and dislikes. Well done for spreading around such an important message!
