Feather Bed

Lolling about on my soft feather bed,
I lingered there longingly
Not wanting to rise.
My nude body embraced
By its silky, contained down,
Small pillows of fluff
Cradled me gently around.
The cool, cotton sheet
Laid lightly atop
Was just enough layer
To keep breezy, drafts out.
I yawned and I stretched
Feeling delighted with myself
And nestled once more
Into deep channels of comfort.
The velvety softness lulled me,
The smooth, lustrous sheets beckoned;
I drifted off again…
To a faraway place of pleasurable touches.

OMG! This is wonderful. I have to go to work now—limping as I am. But! I want to strip and get back into that cozy warm bed.
This was just great…If I wasn’t already dressed…bang-back in bed.

    Loved it

    • I guess this made everyone want to get back into bed! It does sound inviting doesn’t it. Sorry you’re still limping from your injury, Jaye.

I’m happy you liked this too–thanks a lot.

      Hugs,
      Gayle xoxo

  3. This is gorgeous, Gayle. Problem is, with today being overcast and gloomy, makes me want to go take a nap (or go back to the desert!)
I’ll see if I can link it for you.

  4. I must say the desire to cuddle up in a fluffy down comforter came to mind as I read this. I love to turn the air conditioner down low sometimes and enjoy my down comforter. It isn’t possible to do when it’s hot.

This was a very nice way to show texture. Good job, Gayle.

    • I always turn the temperature down at night so I can sleep better. But I don’t use my down comforter–those things really do keep me too warm. Only in the coldest days of winter can I use it.

      Thanks, Izzy.

      Namaste,
      Gayle xoxo

  6. Lovely and lazy and welcome! Nice. I like “channels of comfort” … in the poem and for real! Ha!

Gayle, I am in the process of writing an email to you. Please check yours in a little while and let me know what you think about my proposal.

    Thanks!

    • A lovely comment, Jamie. I was trying to think of a texture of softness–here’s what showed up! Makes me want to snuggle back to bed every time I read it. Hehe.

I’ll let you know what I think when I get your email–haven’t received it yet.

  8. It’s most tempting to get back to bed! But getting out of bed in the first place is just as bad a bother. Ah well! Before or after what does it matter as long as it fits the bill. Nicely Gayle!
