She was a quiet girl
With poise of one much older
Not prone to sudden outbursts
Her emotions were steady and even
Petite and slight with hazel, green eyes
She was shy and demure though quick and bright
Her hair cascaded dark around her shoulders
With bangs cut straight across her ivory-complexioned forehead
Freckles were sprinkled lightly across her nose and cheeks
Which the sunshine deepened the hue
During summer’s heightened heat
She loved to while away long hours
Daydreaming and reading books
Mostly about other children
And the interesting paths they took
Imagination was her best friend
Thoughts-of-fancy was her close second
These two accompanied her through childhood
Offering hope, optimism and trust
Red-headed bird in a plum tree
Carries greetings and good tidings–
An award for the poet’s rally!
Many thanks and much gratitude–you put a smile on my face! I would like to nominate Tally.
