Indigo Sky

Wordle Cloud Definition of Social Commerce - A...

The day was a hot blaze.  The ambrosia scent of jasmine was still imbued in the air when leaving the house this morning.  The aroma had been so strong the night before.  An indigo sky hung heavy and the road was shimmering ahead of me as if a mirage.

A daunting task lay before me.  An important presentation was due at work but my voice had been reduced to a mere whisper–laryngitis.  At a stoplight, my thoughts turned to whimsy as I imagined our clients straining to hear as I croaked out my words.  Surely someone could replace me.

Monday Morning Writing Prompt:  Using a wordle.  Flash Fiction.

  1. This is so good, Gayle. Weird thing is, we used some of the words in very similar images: jasmine scent, indigo sky! Soul sisters!

    • Soul sisters, yeah! I just read yours–just lovely. And I loved working with those beautiful words. Thanks so much, Victoria–for liking to read what I write and for giving me good inspiration to jump-start my creativity.

  2. You really used these words so convincingly in an everyday life situation.

  3. There is a great positive to laryngitis; people strain to be attentive and the message doesn’t fall on deaf ears!

  4. i like how you used the prompt in this creation…..great work..

  5. Dang. You’re good at this. Nice flash fiction.

  6. This is beautiful. just relished reading the post. you have used the words so beautifully. 🙂

    • So happy you liked this, Trisha. You also inspired me to try my hand at short/flash fiction. It can be quite a challenge to come up with something can’t it? Although you make it seem quite effortless. 🙂

I hope you have some more coming soon.

      • i like the way you create a vivid and lasting picture through your words. your short stories are really powerful.

i dont call mine by any specific name, as you know, you will be seeing more mini stories, of course 🙂

      • Thank you very much–and I look forward to reading more of yours. I’m a little behind in my commenting–I’ve been busy doing other things away from home this week. I hate to get behind! 😦

  7. well, you did not missed much. i have been busy doing nothing. 🙂

    • It seems like many are doing the same thing as you and is a bit quiet around here today. But it is a big Christian celebration this weekend so perhaps people are doing family things and are away from their computers.

      Enjoy your nothingness. 🙂
