Home, Temple and Sanctum

All three of these exist for me

in just one special place–

an altar in a sacred space

within my hallowed home.

It’s a focus of rejuvenation,

reflection and prayer.

It’s my refuge, my heart,

my essential need;

A place to nurture my yearning soul.

This peaceful sanctum helps cultivate

and guide me in this life’s

chance to grow and love.

I turn to this place that offers

comfort to me, to learn compassion

and consideration and improve myself.

My Lord is there, my God, my Mother, and

all the world’s sages and saints are gathered.

They all grace this space that I’ve lovingly created–

this home, this temple and inner sanctum of mine

that heads the pathway to my peace of mind.

  1. This is like entering a sacred space. Thank you for inviting me in.

  2. Absolutely peaceful. Loved it (I like the organic shape of the poem, itself, too) and the picture of the Buddha image is perfect. Namaste and Brightest Blessings! 🙂

    • Thank you so very much. I’m so happy you loved it. It’s always interesting to see what shape the poem will become when I hit that “center” button!

      Namaste! xoxo

  3. Beautiful and sacred. thank you for sharing this with me.

  4. your home is divine…
    well done.

  5. beautiful, calming feel. . . tranquil 🙂

  6. lovely and you have always been spiritual gayle i think.. my potluck’s here: http://fiveloaf.wordpress.com/2010/06/04/metamorphosis/

  7. while you read my comment, even I am there (in your home through the Computer screen)

That image is so serene. While completing my Textile Designing, I had discovered this side of me- ever since, it has stayed with me. I love collecting and I love looking at serenes! This image took me to some very peaceful place where I could sit and do practically nothing staring at Buddha!

    Wonderful piece!
    Love xoxoxoxoxox

    • I felt you right here as I read your comment. You are feeling peaceful right next to me.

I too have a feeling of calm serenity come over me just looking at some of the statues I own. They are almost like a living being exuding peace and tranquility. They can be very powerful.

Thank you for sharing this time with me and your nice words, Olivia–a true friend. xoxo

  8. This is just heavenly gayle. i loved the feeling of peace and calm thats wrapped in every word of this poem.

    • So happy you felt a peaceful calm, Trisha. Everyone should have a space like this to feel rejuvenated. xoxo

      • precisely. well, my home is mostly like this, will be back to its old self within a month again i hope.

      • Why has your home not been “itself”?

I really like to have my home feel like a refuge for me as much as possible. Orderly and calm…

      • feeling a little tensed about brownie and missing dottie. happiness and peace originate from our own hearts. right now both have vanished for a few days but dont worry i am an expert in healing myself.

a rude reminder of human behaviour but i wont be shocked next time.

I have been mingling with good people for too long, forgot the real world.

your blog is giving a lot of trouble today.

      • I’m deeply disturbed and sorry about your pet situation. You are right about finding our peace within–so true. I hope there won’t be a next time–but there are no guarantees.

I’m struggling with some challenges right now myself. Trying to remain optimistic…

  9. I feel the immediate serenity that oozes from your inner sanctum … you might have to pry me out of it – if I were I ever to physically enter. Thank you for the soothing encounter. ~becca~

  10. A powerful poem. Thank you for sharing your space with us.

  11. This was oozing with spirituality and tranquility. I have a sacred place that I use to meditate and find calm. This felt like you had seen where I go to stay in touch with all that keeps me connected to my inner self. Perhaps, it should be mandatory to create these very special places. You are so peaceful.

Wonderful poem and photo of Buddha … !!!!

    • I think we should start with our children. Allowing them to learn about the peace within and teach them to nurture that part of themselves. What a difference it would make.

      Thanks, Isadora.

  12. Beautiful in practice and poem.
