      • Ugh!

When we kids were young, my mother had a job where she was docked money for every minute she was late. Poor thing. She had six kids to get ready for school in the mornings…

      • six kids! poor lady! she had seen too much trouble i believe.

there are quite a few offices here that deduct half day salary if you are half an hour late.

i have worked only in one such office.

      • Yes, my poor mother had a lot of stress in her life.

I would not have worked for a company that was so cruel as to take half your day’s wages for being 30 minutes late…

Although I have always been a very prompt employee…

      • In kolkata half of the things depend on the mercy of traffic.

When i lived in burdwan i was able to maintain a better timing than the timing i maintained after shifting to kolkata.

After all we cant leave home three hours early to reach an office which will take one and a half hour on average days. 🙂

kolkata traffic is scary, to add up there are other disturbances.

      • I think in terms of unforeseen traffic problems, no money should be taken from your salary if you happen to be late. But of course, you can’t use that excuse every day! 🙂

Certainly, you can’t be expected to leave home hours early just to make sure you are on time everyday. Those traffic problems can be rough. 😦

      • exactly. and these traffic snarls are absolutely unpredictable in kolkata. its easier to come from outside and work in kolkata then commute within it, but some hopes are dawning with a network of subway trains.

we are keeping our fingers crossed.

      • When I lived in a northern state for a few years, I used the subway system there extensively. It was a wonderful, efficient and inexpensive way to get around the city. I hope it happens for your city. It would solve a lot of problems.

      • if a network of metros (subway trains) are planned in kolkata to connect it completely the kolkata people will thank heavens.

there is a heaven and hell difference between the road transport and underground transport.

      • Yes, it’s a heaven and hell difference for sure. I hope your city can someday have this underground system.
