The Road Ahead

Mountains and Sky

The road ahead isn’t visible to me

as I only have now in which to be.

But I must admit, I still will project

as to what my future may bring.

I hope for the best and try to face any test

with courage and graceful aplomb.

I love the choice of ‘aplomb’ at the end! A poem of great hope.

I find it interesting how we always look to the future. Such an inevitable human tendency. I love your acknowledgement, that you can only be ‘in the now’.
The poem has a lot of hope in between its lines, and that’s always lovely. I like what Obama once said; ‘there has never been anything false about hope.’

    Yours sincerely,
    Philharmonic poet.

Health and happiness to you and yours.

  23. Well living in the moment seems like a very freeing place to be. And in reality–it’s all we really have. The past is gone and done with and the future isn’t here yet. I don’t really like the idea of living in a dream world of being caught up in the past and future–if you know what I mean.

I like what Obama said too–very inspiring–thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, Chaka. I enjoyed our little philosophical discussion here.
