My Mala

Mala, Buddhist prayer beads.

Image via Wikipedia

My mala has one hundred and eight beads.

It keeps count as I chant–

Through my fingers it passes.

A cool little tool,

It helps bring me ease.

Mentally I intone–Om.

This is my submission for Sunday’s 160–inspired by Victoria.

  1. Oh how well you succeeded. And I agree about your Mala. I love repetitive prayer–sometimes a rosary the way I was taught, sometimes more along the lines of Eastern spiritual traditions, lately using the Hebrew Aleph Beit. Peaceful. So glad you wrote this.

    • I love repetitive prayer/chanting too–focuses the mind on the positive doesn’t it. Thanks for the nice comment here and giving me the inspiration to try this.
      Fun!

  7. That’s what they look like, at least some of them. They come in many different styles and with many different types of beads. I’m glad you stopped by. xoxo

    • Your mala sounds gorgeous. I have a few myself–they are a comfort. I love the organic component of beads made from natural elements.

Thousands of chants out into the ethers…
