Home, Temple and Sanctum

All three of these exist for me

in just one special place–

an altar in a sacred space

within my hallowed home.

It’s a focus of rejuvenation,

reflection and prayer.

It’s my refuge, my heart,

my essential need;

A place to nurture my yearning soul.

This peaceful sanctum helps cultivate

and guide me in this life’s

chance to grow and love.

I turn to this place that offers

comfort to me, to learn compassion

and consideration and improve myself.

My Lord is there, my God, my Mother, and

all the world’s sages and saints are gathered.

They all grace this space that I’ve lovingly created–

this home, this temple and inner sanctum of mine

that heads the pathway to my peace of mind.

Laws of my Life

The laws of my life have mellowed with age

They no longer carry the same weight.

I don’t feel as if I must make a date

Or do a thing if I don’t feel like I must.

I more go along with the way that I feel

Rather than what someone may think about me.

I’m not as “rushed about” in my world as it is

For there is no rule in my day that says

I must get it all done to please another.

I have let go of many a regulatory directive

That no longer serves my purpose.

Each individual can choose their own  creed

Of how to govern their lawful or lawless lives.
