Tabby Cat

Tabby cat on my lap

Dozing contentedly

My dear friend

Curled up tight

Eyes squinting shut

I admire your beauty

Your shades of plenty

Running my fingers

Down your back

Soft down fur

Like velvet silk

Parting some along the way

Hues of colors not seen until

Some of russet like burnished gold

Black mixed in with tan and white

A nap of gray next to your skin

Tones so subtle

Tints just right

Stripes and patterns

I had not noticed

Taking the time

Sitting with you

I admire your beauty

And tell you so

As I speak with whispered words

You raise your head

Looking back at me

And answer with a thanking “chirrup”

Beautiful girl...

    • I really wasn’t sure if this was “colorful” enough but I guess it worked–I sure appreciate you reassuring me, Victoria. Thank you very much and I’m glad you liked it.

    • Isn’t it darling. She loves it when I tell her how sweet and beautiful she is–she can hardly contain herself. :)

      • Oh course! She knows it’s true.

Felines don’t have a modest bone in their little bodies. Gyps would say they are just being realistic.

  7. Beautiful tribute to a beloved “fur-child” … I can totally relate. Sita looks like she could be (my) Whisper’s sister. After Whisper looks at Sita’s photo – she agrees!! Purr Purr Purr!

    • She is my sweety girl… Aw, that’s so sweet–Whisper and Sita are sisters–I like that idea!

    • This was for Victoria’s “artist–color prompt”. I didn’t realize how many colors she had going on until I really examined her one day.

      Thanks, Izzy. :) xoxo

  15. <3 the kittehs! I have a grey tabby Manx with white like yours. It's amazing, isn't it, all the different colors of hair that go into making that pattern? Love that "chirrup" sound they make, too. :) lol

    • I really had no idea how many colors she actually did have until I went “exploring”! She tries very hard to communicate with me vocally–all kinds of coos and chirrups–I love it.

I felt as though I were there with her on my lap, my fingers running through her soft, down fur. Beautifully done!
