Step by Step…

Step by step I journey through this life,

climbing countless and steep mountains

of one foot after the other.

Only to stumble and go tumbling down

to come to the place of where I now rest.

Go on, go on,

keep up, keep up!

No matter the deep, depressive darkness

that may envelop me,

or the brilliant light of peaceful knowing,

I am be-coming…

one

step

at

a

time,

at the perfect pace.

What this marvelous piece meant to me was life’s journey must be taken at our very own personal pace.
I, too, do not like to be prodded.

    • Thank you for your comment, Sillyfrogsusan,–this is my very first poetry entry and joining in Jingle’s group. I’m so impressed with the amount of talent out there–including yours.

You are right and I agree. Our life paths are very individual to each of us–taken at our own pace.

  8. This poem resonates with me deeply. It’s comforting the way Psalm 23 is.
Life is full of trials and tribulations but there is a reservoir of deep peace, understanding, and strength within that keeps us forging ahead.

    • So happy to hear from you, Lahn. This is my first entry in a poetry writing rally that Trisha suggested I try here on WordPress. So here I am.

I am touched that this resonated with you so. One night recently, this just flowed out of me without much thought. Why–I don’t know. But it made sense to me.

      • P.S. Lahn, the 23rd Psalm has always affected me deeply too. It’s meaning touches my heart and makes the tears well up…

      • I wasn’t aware this was your own poem, Gayle! It’s really good. You have poetic soul, a gift. Keep nurturing it!

I know what you mean about Psalm 23. Just reciting it touches one’s being and brings forth deep emotions. Yes, shed many tears to this… and always felt better afterwards… balm to one’s hurting soul. A reminder that you are not alone even in the darkest times.

I know you will enjoy it.

    • They are very wonderful people, Trisha, and thanks again for “introducing” me to them. I read on your poetry site where you were talking about choosing several to follow and not try to get to everyone’s writings (impossible) because otherwise there would be no time to write anymore! So true. I’m going to follow that advice. I was overwhelmed by the responses I got.

      • i prefer reading a few people at a time regularly. i dont stuff my attic with too much. that is why Jingle impresses me so much. just think about her energy and enthuciasm! I would not have been able to do that for one month. she is a real gem.

you will start loving the people of this group very soon. they are really beautiful, just like the people of intent. intent was a piece of heaven on earth but the people here are angels too :)

      • I too am very impressed with Jingle’s enthusiasm! Amazing–I’m glad that there are people like her to get so many people motivated–wonderful human being.

I will pick a few to follow too and try to get inspired to write more.

So am I to understand that there is not a Thursday rally every week? Just when Jingle announces one? I guess I’ll get the hang of it sooner or later. :)

      • jingle’s capacity is extraordinary. she is really a phenomenon! If you get addicted to reading other’s blogs your own creativity suffers badly.

you know what i do? i first do my own stuffs and then start surfing.
